What is thermal water?
Thermal water (sometimes known as thermal spring water) is water from an underground spring that contains many minerals and trace elements.
Thermal water has these properties because of the long journey that rainwater takes through rocky mountains up to a thousand metres in depth before resurfacing.
During this lengthy process, the water becomes rich in minerals and carbon dioxide.
Thermal water is therefore a type of mineral water that is found deep underground, containing healing properties and devoid of bacteria and pollution. Naturally pure and rich in mineral salts, iodine and CO2, thermal water is known for its numerous therapeutic properties, especially those concerning the skin.
Read on to discover how thermal water can help to rejuvenate your sensitive or dehydrated skin.
Thermal water to treat the skin
Thermal water has myriad benefits and has been used for thousands of years to treat arthritis, joint pain and burns, though its main use is to treat various dermatological or skin conditions. It has been used since ancient times due to its recognized benefits on the skin. Back then, it was already being used to soothe irritation and to improve certain skin disorders.
Thanks to its purifying effect and antioxidant properties, thermal water is indispendable for people with an atopic skin type. If you have dry or sensitive skin or if you have eczema, rosacea or psoriasis, thermal water will provide relief against these specific skin pathologies.
Because of its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, thermal water reduces itching. Skin will become softer and smoother and rashes due to eczema, rosacea and psoriasis will be less noticeable and may even go away completely.
Benefits on the skin vary according to the mineral composition of different types of thermal water. Some types of thermal water will be more hydrating, while others will provide a greater soothing effect or be more effective against specific skin conditions.
Thermal water to soothe and repair the skin
Thermal water is excellent for treating eczema and sunburn, soothing and relieving the skin and calming burns. For this type of ailment, it is advisable to select a type of thermal water which is rich in silica, less mineralized and rich in trace elements, which will promote healing as well as protecting the skin from pollution and harmful external factors.
